Luang Prabang Hotel Review

Satri House

Book

Location: Outskirts

From: USD 180.00

Our stay at Satri House was fabulous. By far, the most memorable accommodation of our three week honeymoon in Laos and Thailand. Could not speak more highly of this hotel, not only the welcoming and attentive service, but the stylish decor and tranquil setting, as well as the delicious breakfasts (Mrs Mam is just gorgeous and her pineapple and strawberry jam are to delicious). The Hotel undergoing renovations during our stay including addition of a swimming pool. Can't wait to return and see the changes. A credit to the manager. Highly recommended.- 26/10/2009, Ms. Virginia Wilson

This was a beautiful hotel. The attention to detail was incredible and the breakfast was amazing. It felt like you were staying in a French Chateaux. An incredible building. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others travelling to Luang Prabang!- 29/09/2008, Ms. Louise Birch

The Chang Inn

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 50.00

Tipe the receptionist could not stop smiling. She speaks good English for Laos and is very helpful, interested and amazingly charming. The other staff were sweet too. The room was much quieter than the Chang Heritage and half the price. The breakfast was good too.- 11/02/2010, Mr. Ralph Griffin

We were very impressed and extremly happy with the Chang Inn Hotel eventhough the rooms were a bit too small. The staff were very helpful. The rooms were a bit too dark but very nice . I had to ask for a new light bulb to make the room brighter. It would be nice if the hotel has tv in each room but this didn't bother us that much, just a reccomendation. the location was very convenient. The food served there was Thai food and was extremely good. I woudl say the food was much better than other restaurants in Bangkok. We will definitely go back to the Chang Inn.- 22/01/2010, Mrs. pariya chirabandhu

Villa Chitdara

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 40.00

ordered airport pickup, but no one shoved up to pick me up. Wasn't that much of a hassle, but could have been, if there had been no taxis available. They agreed to transport me to the airport on departure day insted, though.- 08/03/2010, Mr. tore stabell kulo

The hotel was excellent - clean, quiet and very well located. The airport transfer was spot on. The slight detractions were lacklustre breakfasts and the relatively prevalent Lao custom of having to remove shoes to enter reception. I understand this is the local way, but it can become mighty wearisome for visitors.- 12/01/2010, Mr. Nicholas Brown

Villa Merry No1

Book

Location: Outskirts

From: USD 35.00

none- 22/02/2010, Ms. Valerie JONIAUX

The proprietor helped us arrange trips to the waterfall, a boat ride up the Mekong river and he drove us at 6:00 a.m. to see the monks collect food rations for the day. Everyone was very helpful and made our stay very pleasant. I would highly recommend this guest house, the location was wonderful and it was very peaceful. The breakfasts were bountiful and the fruit was delicious.- 20/01/2010, Mr. Michele Schaffer

The Bel Air Resort is a charming place, and the owner and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to accommodate our every need. We had a very special holiday there.- 18/09/2009, Ms. Gwen Andrews

Apsara Hotel and Restaurant

Lao Spirit Resort

Book

Location: Outside of town

From: USD 80.00

The stay at the Lao Spirit Resort was wonderful. The accommodation was clean and spacious. The location was superb and the view from our bungalow was spectacular. The food was of a very high standard and there was a good choice of dishes. However, what made the stay particularly memorable was the charming, friendly and helpful staff. They made us feel very welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to get away from it all.- 24/02/2009, Mrs. Carol-Ann Hayward

A little Paradise in the jungle of Cambodia, just amazing.- 09/12/2008, Mr. Schottky Stephan

Luang Prabang River Lodge

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 40.00

Great location, friendly staff. Highly recommended.- 17/02/2010, Mr. Andre Olivier

The hotel was nice and new. the rooms were very big and a nice bathroom, but no possibility to put anything in the bathroom and in the room. Very nice but not comfortable because no cupboard and no chairs and no table.- 29/01/2010, Mr. Jean Ruelle

Ancient Luang Prabang Hotel

Book

Location: Town Centre

From: USD 60.00

none- 14/02/2010, Mr. Barend Westerveld

Welcome was somewhat over-positive. We then got the "Rat" room which is on the first floor and facing the street. The hotel and room is modern style and it was real fun watching the street life from the balcony. BUT... it's very noicy. Well until midnight there was loud music close by and around 4-5 in the morning the traffic started with tuk-tuks, motorbikes and the lot. We had to use ear plugs and even then it was hard to get a good rest. Apart from this we were happy.- 01/01/2010, Mr. Tomas Liden

Lao Wooden House

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 35.00

Lao Wooden House provided a very good, personalised level of service that one would not expect from a larger hotel. Good location close to River and the 'main street'. The room had an authentic feel and look about it.- 19/07/2009, Mr. David Bateman

Way over-priced. This is a step above barebones accomodation. The "breakfast" is nothing more than an orange, a pad of butter and a roll. The room had no windows or any other amenities. In fact it was barely decorated. For the amount of money in Luang Prabang, this place should have been FAR superior.- 12/12/2008, Mr. Eric Levine

Villa Senesouk

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 30.00

very hard Beds, but they upgraded our room for free, we pay for a standard room and got a deluxe one. that was very nice!. they should have complementary breakfast or a restaurant.- 07/03/2010, Ms. Rosario San Martin

Villa Senesouk was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone travelling in Luang Prabang. This was my third visit to LP and I think Villa Senesouk was the best place I have stayed there (my first stay was in Villa Santi!). The staff at Sensouk were very good and the room was great value and perfect for my mother and I during our stay.- 28/02/2010, Ms. Perri Black

Oui's Guesthouse

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 28.00

Oui's Guesthouse was absolutely charming. Oui and her sisters care for your every need. The breakfasts were delicious and I loved having a choice of muesli and yogurt for breakfast. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I loved the location with its view of the river. It was nice to be a few blocks away from the main street and noise.- 03/03/2010, Ms. Frances Foley

Oui's guesthouse is quiet, comfortable and completely charming. Oui, her sisters and all staff were friendly, helpfull but not intrusive, we had a wonderful time and will stay with Oui if we get the chance to visit Luang Prabang again.- 09/02/2010, Mrs. susan kent

Villa Laodeum

Book

From: USD 25.00

The hotel is really sweet. Reception staff will be asleep well before curfew and I felt bad waking them up to get the room key at 10.30pm! No soap provided in the room would be the only negative. I would go there again. Great location, right in the middle of everything.- 24/02/2010, Ms. Amanda Roberts

tight accommodation (room too small for 2 people)- 21/02/2010, Mr. Ross Morgan

The people working there were very sweet and attentive. They definitley had a positive impact on our stay. The room was very nice and comfortable. The only downside was the shower (intermittant hot water) which they did their best to remedy.- 31/01/2010, Mr. Grant Philip

The staff at Sala Luang Prabang are welcoming, helpful and friendly. The rooms are nicely designed, comfortable and very clean. Being right on the water was fantastic, there are so many great restaurants right out the door and the provided breakfast was very tasty too with a large range of foods. The overall experience at Sala was very positive, we would definitely stay there again.- 12/02/2010, Ms. Rebecca Linehan

LJB Smooth Hotel (Aham)

Book

Location: Town Centre

From: USD 24.00

We have initially booked the room for 6 days. After 2 nights without sleep (the hotel happens to be close to the "lively" pubs of Luang Prabang), we checked out and found a new place to sleep. Of course, there was no way to be refund as the booking was not done directly by the hotel... nice trick!- 08/02/2010, Mr. Christophe Laforge

A delightful place to stay, other than the really thin walls, but as a heavy sleeper this wasn't a problem. The staff were very welcoming and invited me to join their family for their new years celebration.- 07/01/2009, Ms. Amanda Whitford

The room is of fair size and has character. It is about 10 minutes walk to the main tourist strip. It is surrounded by a small garden but still a bit noisy since it is by a busy street. The complimentary breakfast has fresh fruit, baguette, eggs cooked the way you like it, coffee/tea. Over all a pleasant stay.- 03/01/2010, Ms. Tader Chang

Saynamkhan Guesthouse

Book

Location: Old Quarter

From: USD 30.00

The hotel is located in a beautiful building right on the Nam Khan River, and just stone's throw from the main drag. As with all hotels in the old district it's close to everything which makes it a great, convenient location. The staff were friendly and helpful when asked for information. They were also prepared to stay up past the midnight curfew if you informed them ... unfortunately I wasn't warned about this curfew when I checked in, so I was locked out for the first night! Something that definitely needs to be told to all guests staying there :) I was a bit disappointed on the last day when I'd asked for another night in the same room, but was subsequently charged a higher rate, even though they'd told me it was the same as the other nights. They said that i had to book on the internet to get the 'special' rate. So just make sure you double check all of the information about your room. But, overall, I enjoyed my stay here and I was looked after well. There are many cheaper places in LP that I would probably look at staying in next time, as everywhere in the old town is located centrally and has just as much character. It is a nice peaceful place with a great outlook though.- 06/02/2010, Ms. Jacqui Symonds

Hotel is clean and the staffs are friendly. Only thing is that the people who clean up the room throw away things that are on the table. They threw away our bottles and plastic cups and spoons and my firend's ear plug.- 07/10/2009, Ms. Loo Chai Eng
