It lacked any atmosphere or charm and the staff were quite in different and didn't really make an effort to speak to you or smile. I often felt in the way there as you have to pass through the living area to get to your room. I found myself spending as little time as possible there, In fact I spent more time at another guesthouse with friends I met and the owners there were nicer to me than at the Tavisouk. I would have stayed there if they had any rooms available over the New Year.
As for Luang Prabang. OK if you like over priced temples, night market & restaurants not much else really. It seems very over priced for Laos and this seemingly justified on the back of its World Heritage City status.
New Year was fantastic there and was the saving grace in my visit."

The beds in LuangPrabang are mostly made from concrete.
The bed was also much too big for the room 6" either side a double or queen size instead of the king would have been preferred."

Compared with other cheap guesthouses that I stayed before, Thavisouk don't clean my room whenever I went outside.
The receptionists know limited English (which I don't discriminate), but I don't feel being welcomed while in Thavisouk because nobody there greets or talks to me whenever I go near the reception area.
What's worst, during my second day of stay, I lost my 6,000 baht Panasonic camera that was left just inside the room (I am 100% sure about this) when I went outside for a dinner. And when I reported to the receptionist about the missing camera in the room, they kept on defending that the hotel have no spare key (which is really impossible!!!). The bad thing is that they did not even tried to help me to look for the camera inside the room and they keep on telling me that I lost the camera while outside (which is really a contradiction since I 100% remembered not carrying my camera that time).
Anyway, I didn't recover the camera...I hope this would serve as a warning to those future Thavisouk guests."

Toilet, Have no Light, Door can’t lock, No hot water!
The thing I never ask for is an old TV, thank for that but it not working properly, sound from TV is horrible, Like alien versus predator‘s noise! No remote control!
Bed Room window can’t closed, mosquito nest is blocking when I tried to close the window. Window curtain are not really can hide you from you’re the neighbor ‘eyes! , It’s really freezing! The night I suppose to stay, I can’t close the window to erase the cold wheatear from the outside! How can I sleep? Before I sleep, I want to take a hot shower before going to bed, no hot water! I called the staff to check. A boy came up, but still no hot water; they let me sitting in my room fro ten minutes, nothing happened.
I leave my room around 9 pm, looking for new guest house to stay; I get new room at next door guesthouse cost 22 Dollars! I came back to pack my bag and returned the key to the staff with and single complain to them!
Beware of this guesthouse!"
