Individuality is the key to Satri House Hotel: in history, in décor and in service to guests. Behind whitewashed stone walls, a winding path leads into the Satri House courtyard garden.
This boutique hotel of twenty five rooms provides accommodation of timeless style in a unique historic property. The house was built in 1885. The residence of a branch of the Lao royal family it was the childhood home of Prince Souphanouvong, the resistance leader known as the “Red Prince”, and from 1975 the first president of the Lao PDR.
The building, now a heritage protected property, was sensitively renovated by Madame Lamphoune Voravongsa and opened as a private hotel in 2002. Then in 2008 six more colonial style buildings consisting of 15 Deluxe rooms, 7 Junior suites and 3 Satri House suites were added to the exsisting structures.
The classic Luang Prabang colonial façade of tall windows, shuttered French doors and curved external staircase demonstrates the continuity of heritage and culture from the colonial era to the present day. Antique fabrics and furnishings create an atmospheric interior where guests can relax in comfort.
Guests can relax and enjoy meals and drinks in the courtyard garden beside the outdoor swimming pool. Each of the Suites and rooms are decorated in individual eclectic style, with windows opening onto the shady gardens. Satri House is a few minutes walk from the That Luang monument, in a residential area just outside the historic central town.
