Sala Prabang is made up of 4 individual 2 storey buildings created around the 1880s residence of a noble family. This stone building, the home of His Excellency Khammao, the first prime minister of Laos, has been superbly renovated. New architectural interior details and decor showcase the skills of Luang Prabang craftspeople: exposed stone walls and wooden beams, refurbished original patterned ceramic floor tiles and fine fabrics, all offset by the subtle wall colouring created by the original use of silk dyes. Flowering creepers create a natural awning over the terrace seating overlooking the riverside thoroughfare. The hotel provides efficient and personal service and a high quality setting in the heart of the city from which visitors can easily explore on foot. The crisply furnished rooms are on the ground or first floor of Sala Prabang's 4 individual buildings: The Villa, The Cottage, Ban Lao and Lattana.

The riverside restaurant “Souan Nam” River Garden is an ideal spot to watch river life go by, with a view across to “Lovers’ Mountain”. Continental, American and Lao breakfasts are served under the shade of vast trees. In the evening, by candlelight, Thai/Lao specialities with a modern touch are on the menu.
