Pak Ou Caves River Trip

The longtail boat trip along the Mekong River, takes you past scenes of rural life until we reach Pak Ou Caves. These two caves set in the limestone cliff face contain thousands of Buddha images.

Pak Ou Caves remain a popular pilgrammage site for local people. During Lao New Year the caves are crowded with devotees, seeking merit with the spirits by ceremonially hand-washing the Buddha images. We explore both these caves before dining Lao-style at a local restaurant.

After lunch we visit Ban Xang Hai - a village made famous by its production of the local rice wine. A leisurely cruise brings us back to Luang Prabang in time to enjoy the sunset.
