Luang Prabang Slow Boat to Chiang Mai

Departs Luang Prabang: Thursday and Sunday
Day 1: Luang Prabang to Pakbeng
Pick up from your hotel at 7am and transfer by tuk-tuk to Vat Nong pier to join the Shompoo Cruise. The boat is very comfortable with a maximum of 40 people sat around 10 tables of 4. The onboard kitchen provides fresh meals, and a selection of games, books, DVD player and electrical sockets ensure your trip passes in comfort.
On the way, we will stop to visit Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its thousands of Buddha images. Lunch is available on board. The boat will arrive in Pakbeng in the late afternoon.
Upon arrival in Pakbeng, make you own way to Pethsokxai Hotel.
Day 2: Pakbeng to Chang Saen
Rejoin the Shompoo Cruise for the 7am departure and continue your journey upstream on the Mekong River to Houei Xaï, visiting a Kamu village on the Mekong Riverside along the way. Lunch is available on board. After stopping in Pak Tha to have the boat documents signed, we will arrive in Houei Xai around 5:00pm.
Make your own way through Lao and Thai immigration, and you will be met by your Thai driver you at Thai Immigration, after that you will be transferred to Chiang Sean.
Overnight at the Chiang Sean River Hotel.
Day 3: Chiang Saen – Chiang Mai
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
After breakfast our guide will pick you up at 08.00 from the hotel and you will start to explorer Chiang Sean. Visit some of the ruins and temples of ancient Chiang Saen. Continue to the Golden Triangle where the borders of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand meet. Continue to the most northern city in Thailand, Mae Sai, on the border of Myanmar. Here you can find goods from Myanmar and its northern neighbor China. Spend time for shopping some souvenirs.
After lunch at Mai Sai we drive to Chiang Mai, on the way we take a visit to Wat Rong Khun, also known as the “White Temple”. Then head out to Mae Kachan Hot Springs where we will spend about 30 mins visiting and relaxing.
Arrival late afternoon in Chiang Mai and transfer to your central hotel or guesthouse.
