Lotus Villa Boutique Hotel
Sustainability
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Social, Cultural and Environmental Policies
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Our rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day; using environmentally friendly cleaning gloves and products, and we minimize chemical cleaners finding their way in to the Mekong River. Our sewage system is the UNSECO recommended system. Because of environmental reasons we choose to not have TV's or fridges in the rooms, We believe that a fridge in each room, keeping 1 beer and a bottle of water cold is a waste of resources. Instead, we provide hot and ice water and beer in reception, and thermos jugs are available on request.
We provide our staff with employment conditions that we had in Australia, including; good working conditions and salary's, training, a 38 hour work week, health insurance, maternity leave, sick leave, encouragement for further study (this support can include financial and flexible schedules), and a staff bank, where they receive 20% interest, to encourage savings.
We are also committed to a local orphanage, providing; financial support, fresh bread every day, eggs 4 days per week, fresh fruit, development of new dormitory, providing bore water for bathing, an English teacher, and basic hygiene supplies.
