It's a simple life close to the animals and close to nature. The day of a Mahout is scheduled to fit the needs of the animals and offers you the unique chance to follow this natural rhythm. The setting is wonderful with some spectacular scenery.
Also you will have the chance to ride the Elephants and learn some specific methods for controlling the animals. You may ride many times on the first day and get close with the animals during your activities...feed them, bring them to the jungle and learn how to clean these massive animals.
A night close to nature and our Lao food will prepare you for the next day. The second day is available for either trekking or kayaking depending on your choice - however please decide and let us know in advance.

08:30/9:00 Departure from hotel/Guesthouse in Luang Prabang town,
10:45 Arrive at the Elephant Village, Elephant Camp outside of Luang Prabang
11:00 A short trek through the rainforest sitting on the back of an elephant in a howdah/chair
12:00 Come back to Elephant Village for buffet lunch
13:00 This is the time when new mahouts are introduced to their elephants which includes some interaction time so you can get aquainted with your elephant and for the elephant to get to know you
13:15 Ride the elephants to the rainforest and the place where you will stay the night
14:30 Time to relax and get clean with a hot shower
Optional: Visit Tad Sae waterfall, only available when there is sufficient water available, usually wet season.
18:30 Set menu for dinner
Day 2
07:00 Walk the elephants back from the rainforest
07:45 Take the elephants to the river for bathing and cleaning
08:45 Breakfast
09:30 Preparing for further activities such as Trekking or Kayaking
14.00-16.00 Arrive back in Luang Prabang depending on the activities you booked.
