Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
At the Lao Spirit Resort we understand that adopting sustainable practices is needed to keep our surrounding area in a better condition for our visitors to enjoy and for future generations to benefit from. As a responsible company we have developed initiatives to use natural resources effectively and produce income-generating opportunities for the local population. We understand that tourism can offer better job alternatives for the people of Laos, especially those formerly employed in shifting cultivation and tree cutting. Our goal is to show how tourism can interact with local communities in a positive way, and by supporting our efforts guests can have an extra satisfying holiday experience, knowing that they are making a real difference in the lives of the local population.
Nearly all our staff comes from the nearby villages and are trained at the resort. We have a waste separation project teaching our staff how to sepearte waste and produce less of it. We do not offer air condition, TV or Refrigerator in the rooms to save energy and reduce noise and pollution.
